Many people across the globe use salmon in their cultural dishes, but one of the best ways to eat salmon is with a Japanese twist. The buttery, rich flavor of salmon is perfectly balanced with the salty and sweet flavors that come with common Japanese dishes like sushi, ramen, and stir-fry.
Today, we’re sharing a sesame crusted salmon recipe that’ll satiate your hunger for Asian food using a healthy and delicious protein! This salmon recipe is super easy to make, especially on a weekday since it only takes about 30 minutes.
To make it even more convenient, order Oshēn Salmon’s direct to consumer salmon fillets. That’s right, you don’t even need to plan a trip to the fish market! So, are you ready to cook this savory salmon dish? Let’s get into it! Here’s how to make sesame crusted salmon:

Sesame Crusted Salmon Recipe
Ingredients
Salmon
- 2 Oshēn salmon fillets
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 C white sesame seeds
- 2 tsp vegetable or canola oil
Marinade
- 1⁄ 4 C chicken broth
- Splash of lemon juice
- 2 TB soy sauce (regular or low sodium)
- 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp fresh lime juice
- 1 TB spring onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger root, freshly grated
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Note: (double sauce amounts if you want extra for vegetables or rice)

Instructions
Step One:
Preheat your oven to 390° F. Then, prepare a rimmed baking sheet by spraying it with cooking spray or lightly greasing it.
Step Two:
Mix the sauce/marinade together in a small bowl by combining the chicken broth, lemon juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, spring onion, ginger root, and garlic. Set aside.
Step Three:
Season both sides of the salmon with salt and pepper.
Step Four:
Pour sesame seeds in a small dish like a loaf pan or pie pan. Then, press your salmon fillets into the sesame seeds to coat the sides. You want your salmon to be covered with sesame seeds on all sides.
Step Five:
Place the salmon on the baking sheet and pour the marinade over the top.
Step Six:
Put the salmon in the oven and bake for 10-13 minutes. (If you’d rather use a different cooking method, check out our posts on grilling and pan frying.)
Step Seven:
Remove the salmon from the baking sheet and plate. Drizzle any sauce that’s accumulated in the pan over the salmon. Serve with rice and stir-fry vegetables!
What are Stir-Fry Vegetables?
This dish goes great with stir-fry vegetables! You could even double the amount of sauce you make, so you have plenty to drizzle over the salmon and the veggies. But, if you’re digging in the freezer or heading to the market for some tasty stir-fry vegetables, what should you buy?

Here’s a list of vegetables that are usually included in a stir fry blend. Choose one, two, or all of them to add texture, flavor, and color diversity to your sesame crusted salmon dish.
